Early morning vehicle fire in Okatie sends one person to the hospital and destroys food trailer

Okatie, SC (May 3, 2024) — Firefighters responded to a reported vehicle fire on Rivers End Rd. in Okatie at about 7:00 a.m. The incident resulted in one person being transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening burns, and a family’s food business trailer being destroyed.

As firefighters responded to the Rivers End subdivision, they discovered a food kitchen trailer fully engulfed in flames. Efforts to contain the fire were quickly initiated, with firefighters working diligently to extinguish the flames and prevent further damage to the attached pickup truck or nearby houses. Despite their best efforts, the fire consumed the food trailer, resulting in its complete destruction.

Emergency medical personnel also responded to assist an individual affected by the fire. The injured person was subsequently transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening burns sustained during the incident.

The incident is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s office while investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
