Since its formation in 1978, The Bluffton Township Fire District has worked to provide its customers with a reliable and affordable Fire and Rescue Service. Although a lot has changed over the past few decades, our strong commitment to our customers and the community remains the same.

Chili Dinner
Not feeling like cooking dinner on Sunday, February 26th? The Bluffton Firefighters Auxiliary can help you out! Visit the district’s headquarters, located at 357 Fording Island Road from 11:30 – 3:30 pm and enjoy a chili dinner. Visitors can also tour the fire station and take a peek at the fire trucks after eating their dinner in the fire station. All funds raised will benefit the Bluffton Firefighters Auxiliary which supports the fire department throughout the year by providing much needed drinks and snacks for first responders on serious incidents and calls among other things. Cost is $7 per adult and $5 for children or seniors over 65, and includes chili, corn bread, dessert, and drink. Take out will also be available. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the district’s headquarters station or at the door the day of the event.
Yard Sale
Tired of looking at all those outgrown toys, clothes, and excess clutter? Donate your items to Bluffton Firefighters Auxiliary for their March 10 yard sale. All items may be dropped off at Station 30, on the corner of Burnt Church Road and Bridge Road. Sale will be 8:00 – 12:00. Items can be taken to Bluffton Firefighters Auxiliary Chili Dinner, Sunday, February 26, 11:30 – 3:30. Come and have dinner with the firefighters!
February 16, 2012 – Around 7:30 am, Bluffton Township Fire District and Beaufort County EMS, were dispatched to Hwy 170 on the Bluffton side of the Broad River Bridge for a motor vehicle accident. Engine 322 arrived on scene and reported one vehicle into a tree with one person trapped. The report of entrapment upgraded the assignment to include Engine 324, Truck 375 and Battalion 3. It took crews approximately 20 minutes to extricate the victim. The patient was transported buy Beaufort County EMS. One lane of Hwy 170 south bound of closed during the incident. The accident is being investigated but the Highway Patrol.
Fire at Mill Creek Amenity Center

January 29, 2012 – As Shift 2 was preparing for shift change; they were dispatched to a structure fire at the Mill Creek Amenity Center. Around 7:30am, a passerby, noticed smoke and flames coming from the roof area near the chimney. Engine 321 arrived on scene and confirmed smoke showing. The crew from Engine 321 made entry and located the fire in the attic near the chimney. Access to the fire was difficult due to its location. Truck 375 laddered the building and started opening up the roof. Once the Truck Crew gained access, the fire was quickly extinguished. Crews remained on scene to assist the Fire Marshal’s Office and the Bluffton Police Dept with the investigation. Units on scene: Engine 321, 324, 320, Truck 375, Battalion 3, and Beaufort County EMS.
Motor Vehicle Accident

January, 26, 2012 – Around 4:00pm, Engine 324 was dispatched to the intersection of Sun City Boulevard and Fording Island Road for a two vehicle accident with possible entrapment. Due to initial reports Engine 324 upgraded the response which dispatched Engine 321 and Truck 375. Engine 324 arrived on scene and reported no entrapment but one patient would need to be flown out. Engine 321 was cancelled and Truck 375 was diverted to set up the Landing Zone behind Station 34.
Fire Contained to 1 Apartment

January 17, 2012 – Around 9:45pm the Bluffton Twp Fire District was dispatched to a reported structure fire at The Estates at Westbury Park in the 1300 building. Dispatch advised responding units that the caller came home and could see flames and smoke in the apartment when they opened the door. Engine 325 arrived on scene reported smoke showing from the second floor and stretched a line to the fire. Early reports also stated possible people trapped in the neighboring apartment so Truck 375 went into rescue mode conducting a search with no victims found. The fire was brought under control in a matter of minutes. Fire damage was contained to the original apartment with water damage to the bottom apartment. Bluffton Township Fire District units remained on scene checking for extension and assisting the Fire Marshal with determining the cause of the fire. Engine 320 Runs a GSW

January 10, 2012 – Engine 320 was dispatched to Nickel Pumpers Gas Station, for a reported Gun Shot wound. Engine 320 waited for the Bluffton Police to secure the area and continued in to the scene. Engine 320 and Beaufort County Medic 6 decided to fly the victim out. Engine 323 was assigned to the landing zone.
January 5, 2012 – Bluffton Township Fire District was dispatched around 10:00am to a reported structure fire in a wood working shop on Red Cedar Drive. Upon arrival, Engine 320 reported nothing showing from the exterior. After further investigation, there was a fire sparked in a paint booth of the shop and was extinguished by workers. Engine 320 held the Truck Company to help check for extension and with ventilation.
Christmas Morning Fire Keeps Bluffton Crews Busy

Dec 25, 2011 - Around 5:30am, A Bluffton Police Officer, while on patrol, spotted a mobile home on fire on May River Road. Upon arrival, Bluffton Twp Fire District reported a single wide mobile home, 50% involved. It took crews about 30 mintues to bring the fire undercontrol and remained on scene until about 8:00am cooling hot spots. The home owners were out of town at the time of the fire. The home is concidered a total loss and the cause of the fire is being investigated by The Bluffton Twp Fire District.
Engine 324 and Truck Run Mutual aid in Hardeeville

Dec 21, 2011 – Around 3:00am, Engine 324 and Truck 375 were dispatched for mutual aid in Hardeeville. Hardeeville Fire Dept was on scene with a working fire in a commercial structure that was attached to another. 302 (Deputy Chief Thompson) responded as the Staff Duty Officer. Upon arrival Engine 324 was assigned to help with fire attack and 302 was assigned as the Safety Officer. The Crew from the Truck was assigned, to the attached structure, to open up and check for extension. Due the insufficient water supply, the fire quickly spread through both structures. The Engine and Truck remained on scene for approx 3 hours. The fire is being investigated by SLED.
