Opcon Meanings:
Opcon 5 (Hurricane
Season):
This means that the hurricane season is upon us and all personnel
should be vigilant as to the potential that a hurricane could threaten our
area at anytime.
Opcon 4 (Notification):
Upon notification from the Beaufort County
Emergency Management Department of a hurricane that may affect the
operational area of Beaufort County, the District’s internal readiness
status procedures will be implemented.
Opcon 3 (Standby):
During this condition all personnel
will be notified by pager and/or phone to prepare to come to work at a
moments notice.
Opcon 2 (Full Alert):
At this condition, personnel will be called into work and report to their
assigned duty station and be ready to implement the evacuation order.
Opcon 1 (Evacuation):
Once notified by the proper authority, evacuation procedures will begin.
